An Algorithm for Characteristic Length Measurement from Point Cloud Data

This paper was submitted and presented in the Undergraduate Technical Paper category at the 2015 AIAA Region II Student Conference in Savannah, Georgia. The research was conducted as part of the DebriSat project to update satellite breakup models through a ground-based hypervelocity impact test of a representative LEO satellite. The paper explains the algorithm used for automated characteristic length measurement.

Finite Element Analysis: Vibrational Modes

This Matlab code was written for my Finite Element Analysis & Design course. The code implements the FEA method on to analyze a truss structure. The dynamic analysis is completed by solving the generalized eigenvalue problem. The vibrational modes of the truss are then animated.

GatorTRAX: Circuit Scribe Lesson Plan

As the GatorTRAX Coordinator for the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society at UF, I work to develop K-12 educational outreach programs to promote STEM education. This lesson plan was produced to teach a high school algebra class about digital logic. The students gained hands-on experience by creating circuits using switches and an LED in a Circuit Scribe kit. The students produced truth tables for the logic gates.

Mechanics of Materials Lab Report: Cantilever Beam

This lab report was written for my Mechanics of Materials Lab course. The lab consisted of using a strain gage to measure the weight of objects placed at the free end of an aluminum cantilever beam. A three-wire configuration Wheatstone quarter-bridge was used to measure the strain. A LabVIEW VI was written to record and process the data.

Golf Ball Dispensing Robot Design

The initial concept for the robot was drawn by hand. The design was then modeled in SolidWorks. Isometric and part drawings of the robot were also produced.

Solid Modeling: Butterfly Children's Toy

This video shows the design of a children's toy in SolidWorks. A Scotch yoke mechanism is used to convert the rotational motion of the shaft into linear motion. This is then used to drive the hinged wings to produce a flapping motion.

 Technical Definition: Aeroelasticity

After thoroughly researching the topic of aeroelasticity, I completed this expanded technical definition for my Professional Communication class.  I wrote the definition to inform a non-technical audience about the topic of aeroelasticity.  The document was produced using Microsoft Publisher.

Aeroelasticity Poster

I organized the information from my technical definition into a poster.  The poster was produced using Microsoft Powerpoint.

Instruction Manual: How to Use a Soldering Iron

As part of the Research and Development Design Team, I worked in field testing by applying strain gages to the control arms of a formula car.  To complete the task, I learned to solder through observation, reading, and practice.  I created this instruction manual to help future design team members easily learn to solder.  This manual was created using Microsoft Publisher.  I created the visuals using Solidworks.
