Who eats it: The Grad Student

Undergraduates eating Krishna lunch cover most of the Plaza of the Americas -- but graduate students are poor college students, too.

Nikhil Agashe, an Indian graduate student in Computer Science and Engineering, said he always sees a diverse population of students eating Krishna lunch, many of whom are not American.

Agashe, who has been eating Krishna lunch for four and a half years and is a vegetarian, said the food is similar to what he would eat in India.

The cost is also an appealing factor, Agashe, who is a Krishna lunch cardholder, said.

"You don't get this kind of lunch anywhere in the university for $3," he said.

Agashe said he didn't have a problem with the price increase.

"I think it was due, actually," he said. He said the number of people has increased, and the Krishnas are using biodegradable plates and flatware. And since he's still a cardholder, he still only pays the $3 donation.
