Who makes it: The Server

Krishna Lunch

He's there the whole two and a half hours every day of the week.

He smiles at every student. If you're a dollar short, you can pay tomorrow.

Hanan, the head server at the Krishna lunch, has been serving the lunch for 6 years. He said it's part of the Krishnas' religious practice to provide the lunch to students.

"I know personally many people became vegetarian just by eating the Krishna lunch," he said. "It's something that I like to share with people."

Hanan said his favorite day is Thursday because he helped to create the menu.

As to the menu and the lunch, it's teamwork that puts it together, he said.

There are three cooks, someone who cuts the vegetables and people who serve.

There are meetings to determine what changes should be made, and the Krishnas value the students input.

Hanan said that most students appreciate the lunch.

"Some of us became very good friends," he said. "Every day we check with each other, how we are doing."
