Exhibit Projects Manager for the Historic Capitol and Museum, Andrew N. Edel, has seen many kids walk through the doors of the museum to learn a little about the government of the state.
The media slide show featured on this page highlights what Edel says are some of the "favorites" of the kids who visit. One fan favorite, the feature on flags, allows kids to discover that things like flags and state symbols are a result of the democratic process! Many kids flock to the weapons display. Particularly popular is the large cannon, an artifact that has made a return to the museum that makes Edal is particularly proud.
Edal strives to develop exhibits that appeal to the wide array of visitors. There is a good chance you'll catch him at the visitor's desk during your visit, so bring your best questions with you!
Like all of the buildings featured here, the Historic Capitol is ADA accessible from the Capitol Plaza side entrance.
The museum is open: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Saturday 10:00 am - 4:30 pm Sundays and Holidays Noon - 4:30 pm Closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
