Step Four - Apply thermal paste
Heatsinks, which come with all new CPUs, will keep your CPU from overheating. In order for it to work effectively, you must apply a thermal paste, which will effectively seal the heatsink to the CPU. There are several ways to apply thermal paste, but one of the more effective methods is to put just a tiny amount of thermal paste onto the heatsink contact plate to prime it. You can use any type of plastic card, a credit card is quite effective, to smooth out the paste. After you prime the heatsink, you should put just a tiny dollop of thermal paste on the top of the CPU.
