Are you an incoming freshman? You aren't only limited to on-campus traditional dorms. Lately, newcomers to Gainesville and the University of Florida have chosen "Luxury Dorms" which offer more amenities, increased privacy, and are still walking distance to classes, Sorority Row, and all the entertainment and athletic facilities. Below are two UF student housing options near Sorority Row and campus.
Windsor Hall
Windsor Hall has a co-ed and a female-only dorm building that are both about a block or two from Ivy House and Sorority Row. Each unit has a private bathroom (unheard of for traditional dorms) and a kitchenette for basic cooking. Windsor Hall also has a nice, well-maintained pool on-site. The most captivating stat, however, is that you will pay less at Windsor Hall for a room that is 60% larger than rooms in traditional residence halls like Broward, Beaty, and Jennings.
Ivy House
Ivy House is an all-female dorm option for uf students that boasts the "best college residence hall experience". The building on Sorority Row is very secure and is actually closer to most UF classes than on-campus traditional dorms. A huge bonus, states one resident, is that "you don't have to share a bathroom with 40 people like you would in a traditional dorm." There is a sink and vanity in every Ivy House room.
Ivy House fosters an interactive social setting that you'd find at any residence hall, but the all-inclusive, furnished, luxury rooms are much cheaper, starting at just $429. The complex also has a shared gourmet kitchen and café.
