Vanessa

Status: Available for Adoption

Vanessa: female blue budgie

Type of bird: budgie / parakeet
Gender: female
Color: blue, black, white
Arrival Date: March 1, 2009
Age: unknown
Tame: Yes
Up for Adoption? Yes
Comments:

Vanessa is a pretty blue female parakeet. She was tame for her previous owner's 10 year old daughter but she is nervous of adults trying to handle her and flies in the opposite direction if someone reaches into her cage. Vanessa probably has a good amount of English budgie in her as she is quite large but does not look like an English budgie beyond large well placed black throat spots. She can be aggressive towards other budgies so may be better off kept alone. She already is on pellets so is ready for a new home. Prefer a home where she can be around other budgies even if not necessarily kept in the same cage since she might or might not injure them.

Adoption Donation: $30 (includes Vanessa, white cage and the kaytee exact original pellets that she is eating).

Scout

Status: Being fostered by Dan with possible adoption. Please inquire to see if she still needs a home.

Scout: black capped conure

Type of bird: Black capped conure
Gender: ?
Color: green/black/brown/white/red
Arrival Date: December 6, 2008
Age: 2 years
Tame: Yes, but cage aggressive towards some people.
Up for Adoption? Possibly, being fostered with potential adoption
Comments:

Owner did not have enough time for Scout so she surrendered him. She is a beautiful little black capped conure who is already used to eating pellets. She is something of an escape artist and came from a pet store (they could not sell her because of this issue). She does like to dunk her food in her water dish. She would need a home where the adopter could be home either much of the day or in frequent intervals to change his water. Scout is fairly quiet for a conure but can be loud at times. Scout already eats pellets and we are working on getting her to try other things. Scout can be aggressive towards most women. For this reason men only should apply to adopt her. It is ok if you have a family as long as the women in the family understand that they might get bitten by her.

Adoption Donation: $150 (includes Scout, food and large white cage).

Sugar & Cinnamon

Status: Available for Adoption

SugarCinnamon

Type of bird: cockatiels
Gender: male / female
Color: white face pied / cinnamon
Arrival Date: March 15, 2009
Age: 5 years
Tame: Yes
Up for Adoption: Yes
Comments:

Very sweet tame pair. Sugar (male) loves attention. Cinnamon also loves attention but she has a little more attitude. Where one goes, the other goes. They are very bonded and want to breed fairly often. They will need a home with someone who is familiar with keeping cockatiels or other birds out of breeding mode. They are currently eating zupreem fruit flavored pellets and will eat some vegetables.

Adoption Donation: $100 (includes Sugar, Cinnamon, nice cage on wheels, travel cage, toys and zupreem pellets.

Lucy and Charlie

Lucy Charlie

Type of bird: Cockatiels
Gender: Female/Male pair
Color: normal gray (male is split pied)
Arrival Date: December 14, 2008
Age: 6 years
Tame: Yes
Up for Adoption? No, Adoption Pending by Kayla
Comments: See a movie of Charlie and Lucy on Petfinder!

Owner was a single mom in the military who felt like she no longer had enough time for them. Very sweet tame birds. Lucy takes a little time to warm up to new people but she is sweet. Charlie, the male likes to sing and says "pretty bird". He craves human attention and loves to have his head rubbed. They love sprouts so if you would like to adopt them, you must be willing to sprout for them. They also now will eat some pellets but would rather eat fresh foods over the pellets any day.

Adoption Donation: $150 (includes Charlie, Lucy, seeds to sprout and some pellets and large black cage.

Budda

Status: Adopted by Maegann 6/28/09

pied male cockatiel

Type of bird: Cockatiels
Gender: Female/Male pair
Color: normal gray (male is split pied)
Arrival Date:
Age: 11 years
Tame: Semi: was very tame but has not been handled in years
Up for Adoption? No Adopted by Maegann 6/28/09
Comments:

Budda was a child's pet and she grew up and went off to college. He is a beautiful pied male cockatiel who makes kissing noises, whistles the Andy Griffith Theme and says "pretty bird". He would do best in a quieter home with adults or older respectful children. He can exhibit some seizure like behavior if startled but calms down quickly if someone sits quietly with him. He has been converted to harrisons pellets and loves wheat berry sprouts.

Adoption Donation: $75 (includes Budda, pellets, some seeds to sprout for him and blue hanging cage.

Kiwi

Status: Adoption Pending by Jean

kiwi: blue crowned conure

Type of bird: Blue Crowned Conure
Gender: Female
Color: green/blue
Arrival Date: November 22, 2008
Age: 7+ years
Tame: Yes, but cage aggressive
Up for Adoption? Adoption Pending by Jean

Comments:

Owner was in an accident and was no longer capable of caring for Kiwi. She owned them for 7 years but it is unknown if she was their only owner so Kiwi and Polly could be 7 years old or they may be older.

Kiwi is cage aggressive but she will step up once out of the cage and seems to really want attention from people. Kiwi would give kisses and would allow her original owner to turn her over on her back and would laugh if she pretends to tickle Kiwi so she could potentially be VERY tame for the right person. Kiwi is currently being converted to a better diet. Her feathers appear to be somewhat shredded and we are not yet sure if this is nutritional or if it is a learned behavior that might be overcome with time (hopefully) if shreddable toys are offered.

Adoption Donation: $100 (includes Kiwi, cage and pellets).
