Red Scarf Girl by Ji Li Liang

Web-Based Assignments

Introduction

Red Scarf Girl by Ji Li Liang is a book which teaches us about the Cultural Revolution that occurred in China from 1966 to 1976.  This will be the basic text of our unit on China.  Throughout the unit, our class goals will be to increase our knowledge of the history of China, gain a rich understanding of the Cultural Revolution, and consider how Modern China differs today.  We will also try to empathize with the situations Ji Li faces in Red Scarf Girl and try to gain perspective about why certain events, such as the Cultural Revolution, occur in the world.  Many of the assignments that will help us uncover and unravel this information will be technology-based.  Links to these assignments and projects are found on this page, as well as a schedule which explains when they will be completed in relation to our reading of Red Scarf Girl.
