Folding
- Lay the shirt out on a flat surface (damp shirts are easier to work with)
- In a pinching motion with both hands, begin squeezing small sections of the shirt from the center
- Keep doing this until all the fabric is scrunched into a circular shape
- Tuck in the extra flaps to make sure it is a conscise circular ball
- Place three rubber bands across the ball, creating six equal size sections
- Soak in the soda ash solution for 20 minutes and wring out excess
Dyeing
Once you have created the sections with the rubber bands, the dyeing process is easy.
- Put dye in all over the fabric (not in seperate quadrants)
- Pick a second color and squeeze spots where you want the color to change (you can see I picked yellow which made green spots and the blue fabric)
- If you want, pick a darker color you will use for the outside
- Flip the fabric over and do the same on the other side
- You do not want to dye pooling out of the shirt, so make sure not to oversaturate the shirt
- Let the shirt dry outside for 24 hours
