National Certification

A massage therapist can choose to be nationally certified in massage therapy (AMTA, n.d.). Individuals who meet the standards of education, training and/or experience and pass the examination can get certifications administered by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Unlike the required licensing process to be a massage therapist, national certification is voluntary. It depends on individuals whether to go through the certification process or not.
