Second Life is an immersive 3-D virtual environment with tremendous potential for educational advancement. Teachers can use Second Life to teach by assembling their students in a desired virtual location. This can be particularly useful to distance learners who can now have some of the intimacy of a classroom setting without having to be at the same physical location.

I believe Second Life can have particular value to film and video students. Using the camera function of the program, they can learn about camera framing and shot setup. By recording the action that takes place on the screen, they can bring clips into an editing program and learn editing technique.
