THE RED WHEELBARROW

Poetry is filled with color symbolism. Colors created in a poem can be all the poem needs to express the author's ideas.  Color symbolism can be found in the poem, "The Red Wheelbarrow", by William Carlos Williams. This poem may appear to be simple but the images the colors bring to life are actually filled with a deeper meaning and understanding. The contrast of colors in this poem, the red wheelbarrow and the white chickens, can bring different ideas of symbolism. For example, white vs. red can lead to good vs. evil. Color symbolism is important in poetry because it presents the attention to something the author is trying to explain.
