Usability Labs : Microsoft

Microsoft

Created in 1988, the Microsoft usability group was created to support the Microsoft development process and incorporate user feedback into their product design. It is now an integral part of the design process. The primary method of testing is through one-on-one observation, however there are many other methods of gathering informative data about user behaviors and preferences. These include but are not limited to field research, expert reviews, focus groups, competitive analysis, prototype research, discovery sessions and product support research.
