Our Home Away From Home

Rome was basically our homebase while we were in Italy. I deffinately fell in love with the city while we were there. We stayed in Hotel Titziano, which worked out great because it had reliable air conditioning and decent showers. In Italy, it can be hard to find a place with one or the other or both!

While in Rome we had our classes in the mornings and one or two walking tours a week. The rest of the day was ours to do what we liked. Me and the other girls on the trip spent much of our free time shopping in Rome. If we werent shopping, you could probably have found us drinking wine at an outdoor cafe and enjoying our surroundings.

Rome was by far my favorite city in Italy. We spent the most time in Rome and really got to know the city. The staff at our favorite restaurants new who we were and it became a very comfortable place. There is so much to do in Rome because it is so large. I enjoyed going to the piazzas at night were we could see street perfomers and look at artwork being sold. My favorite spot in Rome was Castle St. Angelo. Castle St. Angelo is located just outside the vatican city. It has been used as a refuge for the past popes, as well as a jail, and residence. We got to go inside it and walk down the secret passage way that leads to the popes bedroom. In the morning I used to go on walks to see the castle.
