Opportunities for students

Will Write For Food

Students from all over the country can sign up for Will Write For Food, which sends about 20 young journalists to report for the Homeless Voice, located at the COSAC homeless shelter in Hollywood, Fla.

WWFF, which was started by the South Florida Society of Professional Journalists, challenges the group of students (WWFF 2010 on right) to take over an entire issue of the newspaper.

In the video, WWFF 2010 members talk about their experiences during that labor day weekend.

These young reporters, who know how to cover student government and campus activities, cover real issues. For the first time in their young careers, they try to do something that really matters.

Applicants for WWFF are accepted every summer.

Internships

While most who work for street papers are either professional or volunteers some papers take on interns. During an internship, a student will not only learn how to report accurately and objectively, he or she will learn about what it takes to run a nonprofit.
