Babies and Mothers, Incorporated (BAM) was founded in

Miami, Florida in 2000 by four Certified Health Education

Specialists.  The Health Educators realized the potential

positive  impact of recruiting low-income minority families to

breastfeed.  To affect positive change, they decided to reach

out to health professionals in the Miami area.  As a result,

Babies and Mothers, Inc. held its first seminar for health

professionals in 2001, and now with works health care

personnel in private health clinics, hospitals, doctors’ offices,

and public health clinics. Babies and Mothers, Inc. hosts

continuing education seminars that focus on empowering

health professionals to spread knowledge about the

importance of breastfeeding to low-income minority families.
