Competition is the heart of the DECA experience. Students are presented with possible real-life scenarios and are judged on their plans and responses. Competitors are judged by volunteers from local businesses who are experienced professionals in the categories. DECA competition allows students to explore their own career aspirations, while developing professional speaking skills, confidence and poise. Competitors receive recognition in the form of medals, trophies and continuing education scholarships. The opportunity to travel and represent Western High School and the state of Florida at higher levels of competition is a powerful incentive. |
