Academic interests:

I am interested in Community Health Education. My academic interest is the overall education of members of the community on health related issues. I feel the health of any individual or the community as a whole can be improved by educating the members of the community to help them make knowledgeable decisions about their health and lifestyle.

Three Year Career Plan:

When I first graduate I hope to start work in a hospital-based wellness program in which I will work on health promotion, prevention and education. Here, I will work one on one with members of the community doing health screenings, health education sessions, developing health education materials and providing exercise prescriptions. Also in the next year I hope to get my Certified Health Education Specialist certification. In the next one to two years I hope to work on getting alternatively certified to teach health in the school system. I will first become temporarily certified and be able to begin teaching in schools immediately. Then, I will work on a couple of summer courses that will make me eligible for my professional teaching certificate. Next, by three years time and after receiving experience working in the health field, I might like to return to school to obtain a master’s degree in either health education, public health or school health education.
