Type of Assignment
Preparation is an important part of teaching. Planning period were given to the students of MUE 4940 in order to prepare for teaching classes at various secondary institutions, in this case, Lincoln Middle School.
Description of Assignment
During MUE 4940, the students are required to create lesson plans in order to teach. In doing so, they are required to address different aspects of teaching and consider all sides of teaching and possible hardships that may occur when teaching. This example demonstrates Accomplished Practice #10 in the following ways:
Plans lessons that meet students' musical interests and needs
Plans and sequences of instruction that lead to the maximum learning of music
Connects subject matter to the Sunshine State Standards
Artistic Processes/Medium
No artistic processes are address in this illustration.
Rationale
This is an excellent example of planning because lesson plans are built around planning. This demonstrates Accomplished Practice #10 in that the lessons being created all address specific musical interests and needs, are created in such a way that they flow from one activity to the next, and connect subject matter to the Sunshine State Standards in that they interweave different academic subjects into the lesson about music.
