Accuracy This site was developed in accordance with a 1998 National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to provide accurate and timely information on African culture. Data was collected and compiled by the grant participants. The information is reliable as it was developed under the rules and regulations of the grant administrators who also verify the information.
Authority This web site is maintained by the University of Wisconsin-Madison African Studies Program or the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. This is a reputable institution that follow the rules and guidelines of the American Academy of Colleges and Schools.  A list of researchers who provided information are listed.  The sponsor is the Institute of Museum and Library Services. There are links to the sponsor and to other institutions which have additional information. The domain is listed as .edu, indicating an educational organization or institution.
Objectivity The objective of this site is to provide information on Africa. Africafocus is a collection of 2500 photos of the continent and it's people. It offers viewers a look at the many cultural aspects of Africa. The completion date was March 1, 2000, at which time the site contained in its searchable database the digital representations of more than 3000 slides, 500 photographs, and 50 hours of sound from forty-five different countries. Africa in a searchable database with contextual information and data. There are no advertisements on the page. The page is designed to foster and understanding of world cultures and people.
Currency This site is current. Information and activities are updated frequently. This web site was last updated, Friday, September 7, 2001. The links are current and updated by the local institutions providing the information. Most are educational programs and university databases.

Coverage This web site is organized into sections. Sections include buildings, cities, landscapes, religion, women and art. There is also a collection of local sounds of traditional music to enhance this multimedia experience of Africa. There is a searchable database listed by subjects, atlases, collections, and countries. The collection of photos, maps and music are very extensive and one of the largest collections available on the Internet.
