About Us
Mission
The mission of the University of Florida Foundation is to support and enhance the University of Florida by encouraging alumni and friends to provide private funds and other resources for the University's benefit, to manage those assets and to provide volunteer leadership in support of the University's objectives.
What We Do
The main goal of the Foundation is to raise money for the university. Without the Foundation's presence, there would be far less gifts made to the university, which also translates to fewer scholarships for students. The donor and UF representatives decide how the gift will be spent.
Due to the fact that the environment for fund raising for universities is more difficult than ever, UF has developed a strategic plan to ensure that the University of Florida will remain effective at developing profitable fund-raising programs. And even though the Foundation has been more than successful in the past, their new objectives have been set to ensure their future success so they meet their goals.
One of the main objectives is to expand the development staff of the foundation, with an emphasis on the hiring, training and retention of their fund-solicitors. The Foundation would also like to focus on using different strategies for each of the demographics that make up their target public, including the corporate, foundation and venture capital areas.
Another goal that is more internal to the Foundation is “to improve the effective use of the UFF Board of Directors.” More specifically, the Foundation would like to expand the board committees in order to achieve more participation and provide more oversight of UFF business affairs.
And lastly, the Foundation is enduring a huge make-over to incorporate the newest technologies into the workplace. This includes buying top-of-the-line software to enhance document imaging. The incorporation of newer technology would also speed up the gift paperwork process, therefore, improving the Foundation's customer service.
