Homemade Spanish Flan
This is a simple, fast and traditional recipe for delicious flan. The first time I tried this recipe, I was surprised by how good the flan came out. Not only will this flan taste great, it will look amazing. This was easily the most simple recipe I have ever used.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Prep Time: 20 Min, Cook Time: 1 Hr
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until it has liquefied and is golden in color. (This is a very tedious process. Use utencils you are willing to dispose of afterward, because the carmelized sugar will harden and become almost impossible to remove.)
- Carefully pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish (aluminum dishes also work nicely.), turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Fill 1/3 of a large glass baking dish with water and place the 9 inch round inside it.
- Bake in the preheated oven 60 minutes. Let it cool completely.
- To serve, carefully invert on serving plate with edges when completely cool.
- Enjoy!
