Homemade Spanish Flan

Homemade Spanish Flan

This is a simple, fast and traditional recipe for delicious flan. The first time I tried this recipe, I was surprised by how good the flan came out. Not only will this flan taste great, it will look amazing. This was easily the most simple recipe I have ever used.

Ingredients

Prep Time: 20 Min, Cook Time: 1 Hr

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until it has liquefied and is golden in color. (This is a very tedious process. Use utencils you are willing to dispose of afterward, because the carmelized sugar will harden and become almost impossible to remove.)
  3. Carefully pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish (aluminum dishes also work nicely.), turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Fill 1/3 of a large glass baking dish with water and place the 9 inch round inside it.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven 60 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  6. To serve, carefully invert on serving plate with edges when completely cool.
  7. Enjoy!
