Who We Are
The Florida Community Design Center is a nonprofit collaborative design partnership between the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and the University of Florida.
The mission of the Florida Community Design Center, Inc. is:
- To Promote the practice of good community design in the built and natural environment of Gainesville, Alachua County, and the State of Florida.
- To provide educational and reference materials about good design to the general public, to provide training opportunities and continuing education for professional designers, and to conduct participatory community design exercises.
- To conduct research in the principles, methods, and materials used to build sustainable communities, defined as those which balance economic, environmental, and social equity issues.
