about me

I am a PhD student in mass communication at the University of Florida. My recent research explores the use of online social networks in small towns by media organizations to build community, complement limited news reporting, and provide online public spaces for citizens. A current related interest is in 'faceted identity production' in localized social networks, and how people's online personas interact with their offline personas for local activities. I have studied interactive media, information science, art history and design, history and philosophy in my academic career, and I have worked for newspapers, advertising and interactive agencies in the corporate world.
