About me

Fangfang Gao

I am Fangfang Gao, a first-year Ph.D. student of journalism at the University of Florida. My academic interests include online journalism, new media and technology, media effects and international communication.

This Web site is my final project for the Electronic Publishing class in Fall 2008. I built this Web site for international students in the U.S.

I am an international student from China. I've been in the U.S. for more than two years. However, I still remember the days when I first came here. I was excited by the new environment, but also getting depressed for heavy study load and feeling fear to talk with others because of my poor English. I've talked this with some other international students. And most of them have been in the same situation.

My experience makes me realize the problems of international students and understand all the difficulties those new international students have to face as well as all the barriers they need to overcome in a foreign country. I hope I can do something to help them. That's why I designed this Web site.

For this site, I collected some useful information, interviewed two international students at UF with different background, and combined my own experiences in.

I hope this project will help those international students to overcome the fear, depression, as well as anxiety, and build up their confidence in this foreign country.
