Practice makes practice makes practice

Guess what my first tip is to stick with your new blusey skills? Practice.

If the things you learned here have piqued your interest, don't be afraid to look around. There are plenty of resources around you to help deliver inspiration and new skills.

Listen

Blues isn't the most popular music genre these days and sadly Lady GaGa doesn't utilize alot of guitarwork. This means that you need to listen to blues music so you can get into a more blusey mindset.

    Here are some suggestions
  1. Stevie Ray Vaughn
  2. Albert King
  3. Muddy Waters
  4. B.B King

Artists like Bob Dylan, John Lennon and even classic rock bands like Led Zepplin can provide some great blues material as well.

Find someone to practice with

It's always hardest when you travel a road alone. (Although the road less travelled sounds like a great blues theme.) If you can find a friend who plays guitar, even if they have much more or much less experience than you, I'd stick with them. Remember the history of the blues? People and music influence each other, the best way to learn is to learn together.

That's that

That is about all I have to say, I hope you enjoyed learning how to get started in the world of blues guitar, and I hope you're inspired to give it a try. If I find anyone busting out some 12 bar at the Reitz, I'll be sure to turn it into a jam session.
