Description | Dual Channel | Single-channel |
On Laughter and Forgetting Kundera describes two types of laughter. There is simulated laughter, which upholds faith in the perfect order of the world; there is original laughter, which doubts and finds catharsis in the disconnect between presentation and meaning. The Yellow Collar Boys oscillate between the two, toying with unspoken permissions and inhibitions. Not only are they constantly watching each other, but they are holding cameras to video each other as well. On Laughter and Forgetting is a dual channel video meant to be projected on two walls, adjacent or parallel, to imply that the two images are facing. |
