Learning to use a driver and iron.

A driver and an iron is what you'll use to hit from the tee box.

When using a driver:

  1. Place the ball on a tee that is about an inch away from the ground.
  2. Make sure that you have a good grip on the club. Most instructors recommend placing your dominant hand in front of your less dominant hand, and interlocking the pinky of your dominant hand with the pointer of the less-dominant.
  3. Set up in front of the tee so that your legs are shoulder width apart and the ball is lined up in front of your less-dominant foot.
  4. Extend the club back so that the club moves over your dominant arm. Meanwhile, keep your less-dominant arm straight.
  5. Your dominant arm should be at a 90 degree angle when the club it at its highest point over your head.
  6. Keep your head down while swinging the club.
  7. Follow the same path back down to the ball, pivoting your dominant foot onto its toe.

When starting, try to use an iron because they are lighter and easier to guide than a driver.
