Learning to chip with a wedge.

When using a pitching or a sand wedge:

  1. Make sure that you have a good grip on the club.
  2. Set up so that the ball is in between your feet. If on a slope the ball should be toward the back of your stance.
  3. Bend your knees slightly and keep your back straight.
  4. Extend the club back so that the club moves over your dominant arm. Meanwhile, keep your less-dominant arm straight.
  5. Move the club high enough to get the force to move the ball the appropriate distance (this will take time and practice, you'll have to get a feel for how high you need to raise the club in different situations.
  6. Keep your head down while swinging the club.
  7. Follow the same path back down to the ball, pivoting your dominant foot onto its toe.
