Welcome to The Black Bear Ice Hockey Resource site! University of Maine
opened in 1868 with twelve students and two faculty members. When you walk onto
campus today, you are walking into Black Bear country. A place where ice hockey is
life. It is similar to the University of Florida and football, but in my opinion
much better! Students wait outside in blizzards to get the best seats at the hockey
game! Think about going to watch a game in your sweatshirt and mittens rather then
shorts and dripping sweat. It's so much better! UF needs an ice hockey arena.
There's never a minute of no action. From players getting banged around to pucks
flying into the arena, hockey is the way of life!
