Sefaattin Tongay, Ph. D Postdoctoral Researcher University of Florida |
I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in Material Science and Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. My research in Prof. Dr. J. Wu focuses
on synthesizing 2D materials (graphene and 2D semiconductors),
functional 2D materials, solar cells, sensors, device application, and
physical property measurements. Most of my research has focused on ultra-quantum regime transport in carbon alloptropes, graphene-graphite based devices, manganites and organic - conventional semiconductors. We try to conduct fundamental and applied science, trying to hunt neat physics and at the same time technologically important design devices without worrying about optimizing devices with meticulous engineering details. I have received my B.Sc from Ege University and M.Sc in Physics from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. I conducted my doctoral dissertation under the supervision of A. F. Hebard at University of Florida and I was granted with Philosophy of Doctorate (Ph.D) in Physics in 2010. I have authored 20 articles SCI-index articles, such as Nature Physics, Nano Letters, Physical Review Letters, Carbon, Applied Physics Letters with h-index of 9. I have filed 2 patents and awarded with prestigious Tom Scott award in 2009 which is given to a physicist who has shown distinction in Physics. My work has been featured in popular media various times. |
