Sarah is a freshman attending the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is a Music Performance Major in combination with Microbiology. She wishes to pursue a career in the medical field, while continuing to perform with musical ensembles in her community. Sarah is currently studying with Dr. Kenneth Broadway at the University of Florida. She is participating in the Orchestra, Steel Drum Band, and New Music Ensemble for the spring 2008 semester. She was involved in the Gator Marching Band, Florida Drum Line (FDL), Percussion Ensemble, and Symphonic Band during the fall 2007 semester.
Sarah has been studying piano since 1994 and percussion since 1999. She studied percussion throughout middle school and high school with Robert Blum of Brevard County. Sarah attended Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island, Florida. She played marching snare drum on the Merritt Island High School Drumline all four years of her high school career. Sarah was Drum Captain her senior year of high school.
Sarah has had experience in teaching percussion skills in group settings as well as one-on-one lessons. She is interested in teaching lessons in Gainesville by request. Sarah believes that dedication and self-discipline are important attributes to convey while teaching. These are supplemental to creating a firm foundation of the basics for young students.
