Chosen to Lead

Samuel Lawrence Green, Jr. is an emerging prophetic voice in the church for persons seeking Christ. Being rooted in the AME Church since birth, he came to know the Lord on his own at an early age. He is a young man, chosen and called by God, who is a leader among his peers, passionate and on fire for the Lord whose call encompasses the many gifts and talents that God has bestowed upon him.

Chosen to Serve

Samuel is a native of Florida. He was educated in the Orange County Public Schools System and graduated from Apopka High School in 2004. He is currently matriculating at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. While at UF, Samuel established himself as a leader by serving the University of Florida community as a member of the Black Student Union, Florida Blue Key Honorary Leadership Society, SAVANT UF Honorary Leadership Society, National Pan-Hellenic Council, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Outreach Ambassadors Program, and the Minority Ambassadors Program (MINAMBA). He is also a past UF Student Government senator, serving as the Student Senate President Pro-Tempore from 2006-2007. In 2005, Samuel was initiated as a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He has served as chapter president and is currently the Florida second-vice state director. In 2008, Samuel will graduate with bachelors of science degree in public relations.

Brother Green is an active member of the AME Church. He has served the church in many capacities. Recently, he served as president of the Central Conference Young People´s and Children´s Division (2003-2007), delegate to the YPD Quadrennial (2003 and 2007), and member of the Eleventh Episcopal District YPD Executive Board. It was at the age of 15 that Samuel acknowledged his call into the ministry. On October 31, 2004, Samuel Lawrence Green, Jr. preached his trial sermon at St. Mark AME Church, Orlando, FL and was licensed to preach by the AME Church. Samuel will attend Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL in the fall of 2008. He currently serves on the ministerial staff at Greater Bethel AME Church in Gainesville, FL.

Chosen to Minister

Samuel comes from a long legacy of preachers. He is the son of Bishop Samuel and Ava Green, Sr., the 125th elected and consecrated bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is the grandson of the late Presiding Elder Henry Green, Sr.. Samuel is also the nephew of the Rev. Dr. Henry, Rev. Dr. John and Rev. Dr. David Green, all pastors in Florida. He is apart of the third generation of preachers with his cousins, the Rev. Marcus and Rev. Henry Green, III. He has two younger brothers, Adam and Stephen.

Minister Green is fulfilling his favorite scripture, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling which is in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 3:14). He is committed to staying on the battlefield of the Lord and being a builder of God´s kingdom here on earth!
