Academic Interest

My passion for the health continued to flourish throughout my college experience. It has led me to my decision to become a Registered Nurse. I am committed to assisting in restoring individuals to a level of good health, providing them with a comfortable environment, and presenting them with current and factual information so they can become knowledgeable about their health issues. Observing mothers with their babies gave me the desire to provide them with excellent healthcare. My experience helped to develop an interest in my anticipated specialization, a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.

Three Year Career Plan

In the next year I will be a graduate of the University of Florida. As a Health Educator I will work with the Department of Health as an HIV/AIDS counselor and tester. I am very interested in the HIV/AIDS epidemic and I would like to help reduce its transmission rate. As a counselor I am able to have patient contact while informing people on ways they can decrease their at risk behavior. While working with the Health Department I will also be a nursing student. When I become a Registered Nurse (RN) I will be work in a hospital setting. After working as an RN for a year I will continue my education to receive my masters as Women’s Health Care Practitioner. Once I am a licensed Women’s Health Care Practitioner I will be able to work in a clinic setting. I will go back to working for the Department of Health because I am interested in providing care for low income communities.
