PowerPoint

The information included in this presentation provides a foundation for understanding the many diverse learning theories that have been developed and their importance in education. Three learning theories have been presented along with the basic concepts concerning them. I have discussed the work done by theorists in forming these views on learning as well as how these theories can be incorporated in the classroom with the use of technology.

Concept Map

I chose to map the concept of Teaching Methods and describe different ways classroom instruction might be focused. I chose to discuss student driven exploration, the teacher driven model, and collaborative instruction in my map. Within each method of instruction I established how I might present information to my students in my future classroom. After completing the map, I see how these separate methods could overlap and how I would probably combine them as a teacher to best meet the needs of my students.

Excel

This project allowed me to see how I might use Excel in my future career as a teacher. I realized how easy the program will make it for me to enter, organize, and keep track of my students grades. I've realized I can also use Excel to compare grades of students or even the grades of and individual student over time by using the chart wizard.

PhotoShop Practice

The PhotoShop Practice activity was a great introduction to the program. I enjoyed learning how to create a presentation and found it to be very fun and a simple way to design a great learning tool. I think the use of PhotoShop in the classroom would be an excellent way to present information in a different style to draw attention and promote learning.

PhotoShop Project

This PhotoShop project presents several of the benefits of learning and teaching American Sign Language. Not only does it benefit those who are deaf, but it can also allow for increased learning, language, and enhanced communication skills between the hearing.

WebQuest Practice

The practice WebQuest activity allowed me to learn the five main components of a WebQuest and was an excellent learning tool and guide for designing future projects.

WebQuest Project

For this project, I decided to design a Webquest that students at the older elementary level or students in middle school could follow to complete an Environmental Scrapbook Project. By following the WebQuest, the students should be able to complete the project and also be aware of how their scrapbook would be graded upon completion. I like the WebQuest as a tool for designing a lesson plan in which students can follow and independently complete an assignment.

iMovie

The iMovie Project was by far my favorite. I decided to tell the story of my Spring Break 2006 when I traveled to New Orleans, Louisianna with a group of college students to do Hurricane Katrina disaster relief work. For the week we were there, we worked to gut out multiple houses in the city. We also got to talk with the owners of the houses and basically work for them to prepare their destroyed homes for rebuilding. I could not believe the destruction I saw throughout New Orleans even months after the hurricane came through. It opened my eyes to what a long process the restoration of the city will be, but also made me realize that the job can and will be completed one step at a time. This was a very enjoyable project.
