Case Study #3: Broken Clay Animals

Sure enough, when I arrived in the classroom, the excitement died rapidly when I explained what had just happened. Necessity is the mother of invention. I asked the students if any of them knew what an archeologist is/does? None did. I then asked if any had seen the movie "Indiana Jones." Many hands went up, and from there I talked about museums and restoring artifacts, and so on. You guessed it. The whole class got into the archeologist mode and went about trying to find, sort, and restore their animals. (I did have glue on the cart.)

It certainly wasn't a lesson I have ever tried to repeat! But I never considered it a total failure either.
