Close Your Eyes and Open Your Mind

It is a simple request, but Rashon Medlock stakes his life on it.

His music could be termed "Alternative Soul Music." It encompases elements of Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Rock and Hip Hop, but once you hear it, you'll never want to stop listening.

I know what you're thinking. "A singer is a singer is a singer." Singing is one thing. Singing with your soul on a platter is another. Just listen to one song. I promise you will not be disappointed.

In live performance, its easy to see and hear Rashon's influences. His strong, deep voice coupled with the soothing tones of the piano give the audience a treat. His sensuous, indulgent and even religious vocals take a story-telling approach that is rarely seen in modern day music. They take us from a look at the world from outside the world in his original songs "Borrowed Time," and "Where I Wanna Be." By capturing the true essence of love in his up beat love songs "Beautiful You," "Lover,"and "Kate," it is easy to see why his sharing of an introspective reflection on personal events in "Nathaniel" is common.

Lastly, he shares his spirituality with the high energy spiritual "John the Revelator," one of the clearest depictions of the religious overtones reflected in his music. You'll also find classical influences in listening to "Dade's Eyes," a four minute quintet for piano and strings composed by Rashon himself, and dedicated to his recently departed Grandmother.
