Being a Florida girl has always had its pros and cons. I've never lived more than 10 minutes away from the ocean, but usually the clouds open up and it pours when the afternoon rolls around. I learned how to swim almost before I could walk, but I was always afraid Jaws was right around the corner. I've never been in an earthquake, blizzard or tornado, but I still have vivid memories of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, when I was 6 years old.

I loved growing up in Hollywood, but was elated at the thought of moving to a new place to start my college career. Both of my parents attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, so naturally I chose to rebel and go to UF and be a Gator. My younger sister Chelsey followed suit two years later.

My new home is here in Gainesville, also known as "Titletown" to us Gators. There may not be a beach nearby, but the Swamp on a hot day with thousands of screaming football fans is no comparison. I am studying online journalism in the College of Journalism and Communications and will be graduating in the spring of 2008. Until then, I'll be busy getting as much experience with Web design and online reporting as I possibly can.
