About the Author

My name is Lydia Fernandez, and I am a 21-year-old public relations major at the University of Florida.

After I realized I wanted to work in communications, I transferred to UF from Florida International University. I had been pursuing a psychology degree until then.

After I graduate in May, I plan to either attend graduate school or begin working for a nonprofit institution.

My dream is to work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. After watching family members fight terminal illness, I realized that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by cancer. I hope I can do that someday.
