About Me

Biography

I was born on March 13, 1983 in Ponce, Puerto Rico and lived there until 2001 when I graduated from high school (Colegio Ponceno). In August 2001 I moved to Mayaguez to start my undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at the University of Puerto Rico. In 2006, I finished a BSEE degree and started graduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I obtained a MSE degree in Electrical Engineering (Circuits and Microsystems) in 2008. I stayed in Ann Arbor working as a research associate for about a year and then moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2009 to pursue a PhD degree at the University of Florida (UF). In 2011, I finished a MS degree in electrical engineering (Signals and Systems) at UF and, currently, I am a PhD candidate working in the Wireless and Mobile Systems Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Janise McNair.

During these years as a student, I have had the opportunity to work in several agencies/companies: NASA, General Motors, General Electric, and Texas Instruments. These experiences have given me a broader perspective of the engineering field and a better idea of the path that I would like to follow as a professional. I envision my professional career as one based on research and devolpment of new technologies in wireless communications and networks. This is where my research is headed. I am specifically interested in short range wireless systems such as wireless sensor netwroks (WSNs) and wireless local area networks (WLANs).
