Speck was initially attracted to the state of Florida because the state itself is shaped like a handgun.

This is a quotation from Douglas Coupland's novel Polaroids from the Dead, which is really a mixture of fiction and documentary. With a Grateful Dead concert as the centre point, he introduces us to many of the characters attending and avoiding the concert, both the surviving hippies from the sixties and their modern more plastic and practically-minded decendants.
