projects done by me ,of which you already had a brief overview in my resume.
- Design and implementation of
magnetic powder polishing machine: A magnetic powder polishing
machine had to be developed for showcasing to students the process of
polishing. The machine had to be capable of performing both internal and
external polishing on metal rods.The concept design was done on
Solidworks and the machine was made with all the possible available in
house components and manufacturing them in house. The machine is capable
to fully automate the process of polishing with the use of PLC and its
controllers. The PLC programming was done by me.
- Reverse Engineering of a paper
Punch and Design Improvements: 3D Modeling of a paper punch using
Solidworks. All the dimensions were accurately measured using a vernier
caliper and micrometer. After solid modeling, the design was studied and
based on adding more functions, modifications were made to accommodate a
slider motion in the punching assembly so that the distance between the
holes can be adjusted and it becomes a universal punch which can be used
for different distanced holes.
- Programming a beam element of FEA
usnig MATLAB: A general program to solve a beam element in FEA was
developed in MATLAB. The program could accomodate variation of loading
conditions varying from point load to uniformly distributed loads at any
location on the beam and also it could accommodate various end
conditions of beam support.
- Optimum Design of a Paper
Helicopter: A design of a paper helicoptr was supposed to be done.
The helicopter was supposed to fly on a simple principle of
autorotation. The dimensions of the wing and body were to b optimized
based on the criteria of maximum fall time. Surrogate modeling was used
to optimize the dimensions and also reliability based optimization was
done so as to make the helicopter reliable in with respect to drop
times, i.e. the drop times remain consistent for maximum number of falls
before it fails.
- Coordinate Measuring Machine:
Manufacturing of a model of a bridge type coordinate measuring machine.
The machine could measure the coordinates in all the three axis and
controlled with the help of a PLC. Even it could check a dimensions that
are preinstalled in the memory by automatically moving the probe over
the object.
