The InSeR‐Lab serves as an innovation driver to advance the state of the art of collaboration technologies. Semantic resources scholarship seeks an understanding of the challenges involved in reaching effective communication among construction industry actors. These actors have heterogeneous roles and experiences, have different backgrounds, belong to different organizations, speak other languages, and reside in diverse areas of the world.

Why do research at InSeR-Lab?

InSeR‐Lab will create opportunities to leverage coordination of information for construction projects using scientific approaches. The Laboratory will focus on investigations on information technologies that employ semantic resources. The use of semantic resources is a novel approach that leverages the actors’ understanding of information that is exchanged within the dynamic social network grid. The use discovers a more effective interfacing of actors and information. These resources assist actors in the understanding of information to minimize human intervention for information handling activities, which demands costly resources and employs specialized labor.

Why research about semantic resources in construction?

The investigation of semantic resources responds to current construction industry challenges, including not only those that search for efficiency and productivity in the field but also those responding to other challenges with pressing concerns in public and private agencies, such as the globalization of the construction industry, a flexible and responsive workforce, and the effective use of materials and natural resources.
