DesignCurial, an online architectural and design site, surveyed more than 500 dorms in order to come up with a list of the top 10 most luxurious dorms in the nation. From University of Oregon to the University of Florida, schools all over the country are creating a completely new lifestyle for incoming freshman. Gone are the days when three students were forced to live in a ten-by-ten room with indoor-outdoor carpet. Their parents might have lived in a 70-year-old brick building or shared a communal bathroom without air-conditioning, but today's college students are enjoying luxury living when they attend college.

Ranked at number one is Hub at Madison, a residence hall at University of Wisconsin. From black-out shades in the bedroom and a private terrace hot tub, who would ever want to leave?

A close fifth is the Hub at Tucson, located at University of Arizona. With a rooftop infinity pool and a 22-foot LED outdoor TV screen, this place is the epitome of relaxation.

At the University of Florida, two luxury dorms tied for the eighth spot in the rankings. Ivy House, an all-female residence hall, and Windsor Hall are University of Florida dorms that are up to 60 percent larger than the on-campus dorm rooms. The best part… you don't have to share a communal bathroom with 35 other freshmen in these luxury dorms. Plus, they are actually cheaper and in many cases closer to classes than the normal campus dorm rooms.

"I wouldn't say we were necessarily surprised about the ranking," said Aubrey Morey, VP of Sales and Marketing for Trimark Properties, owners of Windsor Hall and Ivy House. Their dorms boast 4.8 and 4.7 star rankings, respectively, from previous residents. "Our location near UF Sorority Row is second to none, so all that's left is providing students with amenities, style and service that they don't get in on-campus UF dorms."

Living up to the idea that they are "miles ahead of UF's traditional housing," Ivy House and Windsor Hall include elevators, jetted Jacuzzis, private bathrooms, and a sun deck with a swimming pool. Relaxation at its finest; something that most traditional college residence halls do not offer.

DesignCurial considered building features, student services, and the creation of a student community when deciding which dorms should rank at the top. From hot stone massages to 200,000 square-foot fitness centers, the freshmen student lifestyle has improved drastically for today's students.

At some of the more innovative dorms on the list, the architecture appears to be inspired by ultramodern museums. Rather than the traditional brick exteriors, many of these dorms boast floor-to-ceiling windows or storefront glass, plus steel beams that create a striking and inviting look.

The list showcases the ever-increasing expectations of the Millennial generation. The price tags for the listed residence halls range from $514 per month per person up to a whopping $1,910 per month per person.

Let's hope that their parents' invested heavily in 529 college savings plans.
