My Favorite Hobbies

Glassblowing

As an undergrad at Cal Poly, minoring in Studio Art, I had the opportunity to take a glass blowing course. It soon became one of my favorite hobbies! Glassblowing is a glass forming technique that involves blowing bubbles in molten glass, with a pipe, and then shaping the glass into various forms. The picture to the left is of the class’ first project, a sealed glass ball, floating in a pond on the Cal Poly campus. Unfortunately, I do not get the chance to blow glass as often as I would like. I am in search of a studio near UF.

Crocheting

Crocheting is one of my favorite hobbies that I can do where ever and whenever I have free time. Crocheting, from the French word “crochet” meaning hook, is the process of looping yarn or thread much like knitting. Unlike knitting, crocheting uses a hook rather than two needles. Although I can knit and think knitting is very beautiful, I prefer crocheting and the variety of stitches avaiable. The picture to the left is an example of some of my work and favorite projects.
