Use the above links to go back and learn anything you don't recognize in the following items.

Home page. For this page, understand the basic concepts behind the water cycle. Remember that the water cycle does not always go from one step to the next in order. Water can condense and then evaporate again with out having to precipitate for example. Finally, realize that the driving engine behind the water cycle is the Sun.

Precipitation. This stage occurs after condensation of water vapor in the atmosphere. The page gives a definition for typography and has a link to rainfall patterns.

Rainfall Patterns and Desert Formation. This is a large page with a lot of information. Learn the definitions for all of the highlighted terms (the white ones). Understand the three factors of desert formation given and know the examples listed for each factor. Know whether cooler or warmer air can hold more water vapor.

Accumulation. This stage typically occurs after water has precipitated from clouds. The page gives two terms that you must know the definitions of. Also be prepared to explain what an aquifer is and isn't. There will be a question about drawdown and how it relates to the drying up of lakes. This page also gives a link to the states of water page.

Physical States of Water. This is another large page with lots of information to learn. Review the three physical states of matter covered and the properties listed for each state. Know how these states are represented in water and specifically how water differs from standard states.

Oceans and Surface Reservoirs. This page has two highlighted terms for you to know the definitions of. Remember that water molecules typically spend the largest portion of their existence in a surface reservoir.

Evaporation and Transpiration. Know the three processes that are most commonly involved in getting water from a liquid state in a reservoir to a gaseous state in the atmosphere (they are the three highlighted terms). Also know the difference between evaporation and boiling.

Condensation. Understand what causes water vapor in the atmosphere to condense and form clouds. This page also links to the clouds page.

Clouds. This page has a lot of highlighted words. Know the three basic names for clouds and the other terms that are added to complete cloud names and descriptions. Finally, know how far up in the atmosphere the three cloud types can be found.

When you have finished your review you can print out the exam on this material are return to your desk to take the exam. Good Luck!!
