Boogie Woogie
"Fats" Walker started this style of Jazz. This was a style of improvised piano music played during the
20's in Chicago. Boogie Woogie first orginated in the mining areas of the midwest. It involved a short,
accented bass pattern that played repeatedly while the right hand plays freely, using many different
rhythms and techniques."The boogie woogie shares much in style to the previously named piano styles.
However, it is noted for a faster moving left hand. Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis helped make the
boogie woogie popular."
