Our group focused on Algeria's many governments and their present governmental system, because we felt that in order for a country to achieve its full potential, a smooth running government is of the utmost importance. The government will also effect how well the country will do economically, in that they will set what type of economic system the country will use, and also what economic policies that the country will follow. The citizens have to know what rights they have, who will protect them, and what is expected from them. We also wanted to clear up any misconceptions that there are about African governments, and that they are unorganized democracies with a bleak looking future. Algeria's government is important, because it represents what is important to the people of this country, and it also shows how this country has evolved after being under so many different rules in their history.
As recommendations or suggestions for this country in the future, we definitely recommend for Algeria to continue on its road to democracy. They have enough resources and dedicated citizens in order to achieve prosperity under this type of government. Our group does feel, however, that in order to be as prosperous as it could possibly be, the country has to rid the military of some of its power. The military seems to overthrow the government, whenever this country moves to a stabile political system and they do not like what is going on. A military is important to a prosperous democracy, but they can not act as an obstacle in this country's way.
