TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that
every child learns best in their own unique way. I also believe that
by having a child learn by exploring different methods of learning, even
ones they never thought of using before, can enhance a child's ability to
learn.
By choosing just a directed or just a constructivist classroom, I feel
that I am taking too much of a risk by assuming that children will learn
best according to what I feel is best for them. To account for this,
I will offer a variety of different methods of teaching to my students to
explore and allow them to choose whatever they feel is best for them to learn.
By allowing students to choose their own way of learning, I feel that my
classroom will be exciting and full of diversity. Students will be
able to learn from their fellow classmates about different methods of learning,
and discover that a method they once thought not to be beneficial to them
could be their new option of learning in the future.
Along with allowing my students to choose their method of learning themselves
and from their peers, I will personally assist each student to help them
explore their most beneficial learning techniques form those that they thought
weren't the best choices for them. By doing this, I feel that this
will eventually lead my children into not being set on one way of learning,
and they will be able to take their own initiative to learn in new ways they
never thought they could before.
My goal is to try to make my students well rounded learners by having them
explore on their own different ways on learning, and not be instructed every
step of the way on how to learn material.
