James Cooper’s book The Prairie recounts the adventures of an old trapper, along with a few others, in the newly acquired, undeveloped prairies of America. Each character has a unique personality and outlook on life, along with their individual set of values. Despite these often varying viewpoints, it is quite obvious which values Cooper agrees with. Generally, these values are those expressed by the trapper (the hero of the story) as he saves the day or argues with various characters. Though these values are expressed in a setting that in no way reflects today’s society, they still bear relevancy in our lives. These values can be used as important characteristics in an individual’s career. I will now demonstrate this by applying them to the career of a pharmacist. These values include:
